The American multinational Activision Blizzard, specialized in the interactive entertainment and video game sector and owner of Call of Duty, has acquired the Barcelona-based video game company Digital Legends, which has developed, among others, the award-winning tactical action and hero game Respawnables Heroes. The acquisition operation has facilitated the divestment of asset manager Inveready and technology investor Bullnet Capital.

With the incorporation of Digital Legends, the American group will strengthen the mobile area, as it will allow Digital Legends Entertainment to focus on the development of a new mobile version within the Call of Duty franchise, one of Activision Blizzard's best-known titles, based in Santa Monica (California), after the teams of both firms have worked closely together over the last year.

This project will join those that Digital Legends Entertainment ---founded in Barcelona by Xavier Carrillo in 2001--- has carried out in the video game segment for smart devices (phones and tablets), for multinationals such as Adidas, Disney, Electronic Arts, Apple, Samsung, Nokia, Sony or Zynga. The firm has also developed its own games such as Kroll (presented by Steve Jobs at the global launch of the iPhone 3G), Respawnables, After Pulse or Respawnables Heroes.

Since 2012, Digital Legends Entertainment has had financing from Inveready, through its Venture Debt fund, which joined the support the company already had with Bullnet Capital. With this accompaniment, Xavier Carrillo's company ---an international expert in the video game industry--- innovated in the technology behind Karisma, its own game engine, which has allowed it to get the most out of the platforms and operating systems into which its video games have been integrated. The Digital Legends technology team is led by Unai Landa, a sector veteran with more than 20 years of experience.
