Abacus has reached an agreement for the acquisition of TresC, which will materialize in the coming months with the aim of creating, from the consumer club, a "large platform" for culture and entertainment that will also serve to boost the Catalan cultural industry.
In a press release, Abacus reported that from now on it will be the sole owner of the project, with the will to continue collaborating with the previous shareholders in each of the areas they work with. The acquisition of TresC seeks to strengthen the role of consumers in Abacus' future project, and to ensure that the Catalan cooperative is a "driver" of cultural consumption among all its customers and its million consumer members.
Abacus was already part of TresC's shareholding, along with Focus, Bitó, Magma Cultura, Grup 62, El Periódico and the Federació Llull. As Oriol Soler, general director of Abacus, explains, the objective now will be to "scale the project" to make it more useful to society as a tool for accessing quality cultural content, reports ACN.
Soler emphasizes that "TresC maintains a loyal community and what is needed is to update the value proposition and the model." In a first phase, the club will remain unchanged, but the forecast is to start introducing new features from the second half of 2023.
The TresC platform was born on Sant Jordi's Day in 2006 as an initiative of Focus and other organizations, foundations and media, to promote access to culture in Catalonia. TresC members have access to exclusive shows and cultural proposals with special discounts and promotions.
Likewise, TresC also functions as a multimedia communication platform for cultural agents to promote their activities and encourage ticket sales.
