The therapy developed by Blasco and Bosch could represent a great step towards the cure of these pathologies, which are increasingly frequent due to the demographic aging of the population. In addition, diseases such as pulmonary fibrosis, renal fibrosis, and aplastic anemia still do not have effective treatments. This is what has led the Spanish National Cancer Research Center (CNIO) and the Autonomous University of Barcelona (UAB) to found the spin-off Telomere Therapeutics, with the aim of converting these discoveries into cures.

The initiative by Blasco and Bosch is also pioneering because it is a scientific spin-off formed 100% by Spanish public institutions, which arises from research carried out in these research centers and has a Spanish investor, the venture capital firm Invivo Ventures, which has made a millionaire investment in the company's first round of financing.
With funding from Invivo Ventures, the therapy will be optimized and validated in animal models. Along with the funding, Luis Pareras and Albert Ferrer, general partners of Invivo Capital, will join the board of directors of Telomere Therapeutics.
