The Government has approved this Wednesday in the Executive Council to authorize 8.6 million euros charged to the 2021 to 2023 budgets to attend the 2020 call for Beatriu de Pinós grants for the incorporation of postdoctoral research staff into the Catalan science and technology system.

Researchers selected by the Beatriu de Pinós program, created in 2005, receive support and training from the Agència de Gestió d'Ajuts Universitaris i de Recerca (AGAUR) to expand their transversal competencies and improve their career prospects. To this end, the program promotes multidisciplinary collaborations, especially with public sector entities, to create synergies and improve the impact of research.

The authorization to the Departament d'Empresa i Coneixement, competent in university and research matters, is carried out through the transfer item to AGAUR. The contributions will be specified in three transfers worth 2.88 million euros over the 2021, 2022, and 2023 fiscal years.

Likewise, the Catalan executive has approved extending the validity of the Serra Húnter Plan (PSH) 2016-2020 for the hiring of highly qualified teaching and research staff (PDI) with merits of international excellence in Catalan public universities, which ended at the end of December. It has done so after the pandemic altered the program's calendar, making it necessary to extend it until the plan's evaluation could be completed and a new phase for the next four years ratified.
