I have dedicated almost thirty years of my professional life to the real estate sector. Three decades in which I have seen how Barcelona reinvented itself again and again: from the city that opened up to the world after the Olympic Games to the current urban laboratory where new models of housing, sustainability, and regeneration are being tested. In this journey, I have been fortunate to train, grow, and take on responsibilities that I never would have imagined when I started. But if there is something that particularly excites me today, it is seeing how, parallel to my own career, WIRES has grown.
What began as a network of women executives and board members seeking to support each other in a complex sector is today an essential player in the Spanish real estate ecosystem. And Barcelona has undoubtedly been one of the territories where this transformation has become most visible.
A decade of growth that speaks of the future
The General Assembly held on April 9 in Madrid confirmed a fact that still impresses even those of us who experience the association from within: 635 members and 87 new additions in 2025 alone, one of the most significant growths since its founding more than ten years ago.It's not just a number. It's proof that female talent exists, is abundant, and is ready to lead. What was missing were spaces where that talent could connect, amplify, and project itself. WIRES has been that space.
Barcelona: an ecosystem where WIRES adds and transforms
Barcelona is not just an active delegation within WIRES.It is a territory where the association has found a natural fit.The city is experiencing a decisive moment: new housing models, regulatory pressure, sustainability challenges, transformation of uses, attraction of international investment. And in all these debates, the female perspective brings nuances, sensitivity, and rigor that enrich the conversation.Our presence at renowned fairs such as BMP, SIL, BNEW or The District, where WIRES has played a prominent role, demonstrates that Barcelona not only welcomes talent: it promotes it. Each event, each round table, each meeting with institutions and companies reinforces the idea that the city is a strategic hub for female leadership in the sector.
And in Barcelona, this growth has been possible thanks to great female role models who boosted WIRES from its beginnings, such as Carmina Ganyet, Anna Gener, Imma Amat or Montse Rius, and a network of support and collaboration of great professionals such as Dolors Jimenez, Magda Dalmau, Andrea Mora, Alba Ródenas or Claudia Tichauer, with whom I have had the opportunity to work side by side and who have dedicated many hours and effort selflessly.
The pride of seeing a community that is already a think tank grow
During the Assembly, our presidentCarmen Panaderohe expressed it clearly: WIRES is moving towards "athink tankreference for the sector, with the capacity to produce studies,papersand strategic positioning." This qualitative leap is, for me, one of the greatest reasons for pride. Because it's not just about being present. It's about influencing. About contributing knowledge. About helping to transform a sector that needs new voices and new ways of thinking.The new claim —We connect talent, we transform the real estate sector— perfectly summarizes this ambition. From my role as vice president, it is a privilege to work with women who represent the best of the sector: technical solvency, leadership, and enormous professional generosity.
Allies who add up: WIRES Friends 2026
I am particularly excited about the recognition of WIRES Friends 2026, because it symbolizes something I have always defended:real equality is built with alliances.As I said during the Assembly, "these awards recognize the effort of those men who have most helped us to become and consolidate ourselves into what we are right now: athink tankreal estate". And it makes me especially happy that in this edition the partners have chosenAlbert Planas, CEO of Nebext, a company that organizes, among others, the REBUILD and The District fairs, both born in Barcelona, and toVíctor Sardà, director of the Real Estate Degree at the Polytechnic University of Madrid, ASPRIMA and APCE Spain.It's not about excluding, but about adding. About building a more diverse, more open, and more intelligent sector.
A collective story that is also personal
When I look back and think about my almost three decades in the real estate sector, I see a trajectory marked by challenges, learning, and opportunities. But I also see something more:a community of women that today occupies a place that years ago seemed unattainable.WIRES has grown. Barcelona has grown with it. And I, who have been lucky enough to experience both stories from within, can feel nothing but pride. Because the future of the real estate sector will be more sustainable, more innovative, and more human if we build it together. And WIRES, from Barcelona and from all over Spain, is demonstrating that this future has already begun.
