Which countries dedicate more time to food?

The inhabitants of France, Greece, Italy, and Spain, in that order, are those who dedicate the most time on average to food and drink.

This is revealed by the data offered by the OECD (Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development) on the time dedicated by citizens of its countries to different daily activities.

The French dedicate a daily average of 2 hours and 13 minutes (133 minutes) to food and drink, surpassing the inhabitants of Greece (131 minutes), second in this ranking, by two minutes.

Immediately after, and almost tied, are the Italians, with an average of 2 hours and 7 minutes, and the Spanish, with one minute less.

In fifth place in this ranking is Denmark: Danes also take their time for meals, with almost two hours daily average (119 minutes). They thus surpass a Southern European country like Portugal, where the average time dedicated to food and drink is slightly below two hours (112 minutes).

Far from Europe, the other OECD country where its inhabitants spend more than 100 daily minutes of their time eating and drinking is South Korea (105 minutes).

The average for the 28 OECD countries is 95 minutes per day. That is also the time Germans dedicate to eating and drinking.

And which are the countries where less time is dedicated to food? The fastest are the inhabitants of the United States, who barely exceed an hour on average (62 minutes). Their northern neighbors, the Canadians, also hurry when eating: the daily average is only 1 hour and five minutes.

Back in Europe, the Dutch are the third fastest when eating, with only 66 daily minutes.

The following ranking shows the complete list of OECD countries (with the exception of Turkey and Hungary, for which no specific data on this activity is offered).
