We premiere a new season of the series 'Street Art'

Hand in hand with journalist Cristina Sala, every Friday we will tour the streets of Barcelona to locate the works of art by great international artists that are spread throughout the city. We will review their history and learn interesting facts so that when we pass by them, we stop and fall in love with all this urban richness that we have within reach.

With the aim of continuing to develop quality content that allows us to reinforce our commitment to Barcelona and to culture, this Friday we premiere the second season of Street Art by TheNBP. Thanks to the sponsorship of Estrella Damm, every Friday we will offer a new chapter of these informative videos with which we want to contribute to making known the rich artistic heritage that we have scattered throughout the city's streets, the work of great international artists such as Fernando Botero, Richard Serra, Alexander Calder, Eduardo Chillida or Joan Fontcuberta.

It is common for us to pass by these pieces without realizing their existence, and that is why, with these audiovisual capsules (in Catalan and subtitled), we want to provide tools to know who their author is, the name of the work, the material used, the history behind the piece, and the intentionality with which the artist made it.

This discovery will be made again guided by the journalist Cristina Sala, a lover of urban art and passionate about Barcelona. With a characteristic narrative style that conveys closeness and captivates all audiences, Sala immerses us in knowledge in just a few minutes and contributes with this task to making all this artistic heritage visible and, who knows, also to awakening new vocations. What is certain is that after watching each chapter, it is difficult not to want to visit the work in question as soon as possible.

To facilitate this task, The New Barcelona Post geolocates each of the artworks so that readers can organize the routes they wish through the different neighborhoods of the city. As if it were an audio guide, once in front of the work, what better than to dedicate a few minutes to watching the corresponding video to learn all its details. I invite all tourists visiting the city to do the exercise, but especially Barcelonians, who largely ignore that we have this heritage.

We begin this new season with Homage to Picasso, the sculptural ensemble conceived by Antoni Tàpies to commemorate the centenary of the birth of the painter from Malaga. In this link you can retrieve the 16 chapters of the first season of Street Art by TheNBP, where we visited iconic works such as Botero's Cat, the Matches of Vall d'Hebron (Claes Oldenburg and Coosje Van Bruggen), L'Estel Ferit (Rebecca Horn) or Keith Haring's AIDS mural.
