Wallbox accelerates its growth. In the first six months of the year, the Catalan company has invoiced 30% more than in all of 2020, with revenues of 32 million dollars (27 million euros), a figure that represents a 300% growth compared to the first half of last year and is 15% above the company's budget.
The company founded by Enric Asunción highlights among the keys that have allowed sales to quadruple the launch in the United States of the Pulsar Plus electric charger, its best-selling product, which has managed to become number 1 in sales on Amazon and be one of the items recommended by Amazon Choice in the electric vehicle charging category.
Wallbox's success in the US market has led the company to decide to build a factory in the country, in a location expected to be announced in the coming months. "The new factory is expected to open in the second half of 2022 and will be key to supporting Wallbox's growth in the North American market in the residential, business, and public segments," says Asunción. The CEO also recalls that, in parallel, the group has already begun the construction of its new factory in Barcelona, which will be located in the Zona Franca.
According to Wallbox, so far this year it has incorporated 305 people into its workforce, bringing the team to more than 600 employees spread across Europe, Asia, and America. The growth in the first half of the year was also a consequence of its entry into other countries ---it now operates in 67--- and the pull experienced, for example, in Australia, Germany, France, and Italy. "We are proud to continue delivering strong results, expanding our geographical footprint, strengthening our technological offering, and further diversifying our business," said the entrepreneur.
Wallbox expects to continue growing strongly in the second half of the year in the US also thanks to the strategic alliance it has announced with SunPower, a company that installs domestic solar panels and will also offer its customers the installation of a Wallbox charger at home that will work with the renewable energy generated by their panels. The company has also reached an agreement with Iberdrola, to whom it will sell a thousand units of the new Supernova fast direct current charger for public use.
In early June, Wallbox announced its plans to go public on the New York Stock Exchange thanks to an agreement reached with Kensington Capital, a listed investment vehicle (spac) with which it plans to merge in the third quarter, reaching a valuation of 1.5 billion dollars (1.265 billion euros), which will turn the Catalan company into a unicorn, that is, a startup valued at over a billion.
