Vueling has scheduled 16 million seats originating from or destined for Barcelona Airport during the upcoming summer season, a 9% increase compared to last year's offering. The IAG group company will also increase its fleet at the Catalan capital's facilities with three more aircraft, which will serve to reinforce key airline routes and open new international destinations. The forecast is that during the summer, the number of seats on international routes will grow by almost 14% and by 3% in the domestic market.

Overall, the airline states that it will connect Barcelona with 90 destinations, 70 international and 20 domestic. Vueling is the main operator at El Prat Airport. The increase in seats comes after the facility closed 2024 nearing its maximum capacity, with a new annual record of 55 million passengers. The airline transported almost 22 million passengers on the more than 133,000 flights operated in Barcelona last year.

Across its entire network, the airline led by Carolina Martinoli has scheduled more than 27 million seats for this summer season. This figure represents an increase of more than one million seats in Spain to national and international destinations compared to the previous year, a 6% increase.

In addition to the three aircraft it will incorporate in Barcelona, it will add two more to other national airports to reinforce domestic and international connectivity. Internationally, it is working to strengthen its presence in bases such as Paris-Orly or London-Gatwick. With more than 4,600 employees, the company has a network of almost 260 routes per year connecting 30 countries. In 2024, it has operated more than 223,000 flights.
