While Barcelona Airport continues to gain travelers and break records, it also continues to expand its international connections. Vueling will launch five new routes this summer, connecting Barcelona for the first time with the capital of Montenegro, Tivat, as well as with the Italian cities of Rimini and Salerno and the Moroccan coastal city of Essaouira. In addition, the airline will also fly to Albania from Barcelona during the summer season, on a route to Tirana that is already offered by other operators.
Some of these routes will be the only ones connecting the new destinations not only with Barcelona, but with all of Spain: Vueling's will be the only one linking a Spanish airport with Tivat, with Rimini, and with Salerno. The launch of the new routes has coincided with the cancellation of Vueling's historic connection between Barcelona and Madrid, which will cease operations at the end of March.
Specifically, flights to the new destinations will be offered from July to October with two weekly frequencies in the case of Rimini and Essaouira; with three flights a week to Tivat and Salerno, and with four weekly flights to Tirana. In total, the airline will fly to more than 90 destinations during the summer period.
For this summer season, Vueling will add three aircraft to its base fleet at El Prat Airport, which will allow the airline to offer 9% more weekly seats compared to last year's summer season.
The airline's planned activity for the summer and these five new routes "consolidate the commitment to connect Barcelona with unique international destinations," defended Vueling's Network and Strategy Director, Jordi Pla.
