She sees that the neighbor has hung out the laundry as every day. The red and white striped towel, the underwear, and the robe. She hears the radio in the background and that she answers from time to time. She is watching how the geraniums she watered last summer are evolving when she notices her approaching, dragging her slippers and walker. She slides open the terrace door and pokes her head out. An almost imperceptible smile is enough for both of them to go inside. They return a couple of minutes later with their respective mugs. Hers is steaming too much and she has to blow on it. Arsenia sits down to get some sun, eyes closed and calves in the air. She asks her if she needs her to buy anything at the market, if she has gone to the doctor to check her knee, if her son will come that afternoon, but she weakly shakes her head while trying to get a little closer to the warmth. When the church bells strike nine, she says goodbye until tomorrow.
