The contemporary art gallery Villa del Arte Galleries, with spaces in Barcelona and Amsterdam, participates for the second consecutive year in the Sustainable Art Festival of Catalonia (Drap-Art'21), which reaches its 25th edition. From its space in the Gòtic, on Carrer de la Palla, Villa del Arte Galleries participates with two of its great historical bets, with works by Barcelona artist Miquel Aparici and the international group Ingravidesa Sculpture Alliance.
"We believe in sustainable art as a perfectly valid and aesthetic type of contemporary art. Behind Miquel Aparici's works, we find humor, creativity, and talent. Behind Ingravidesa Sculpture Alliance, we find beauty and originality," says Bert van Zetten, founder of Villa del Arte Galleries, curator and jury member at Drap-Art'21. The exhibition can be visited until Tuesday, December 21, from 11 AM to 8 PM.
In the case of Miquel Aparici's works, the Barcelona native creates them from disused objects, which are transformed into animals. They are sculptures full of soul and creativity, which make one reflect on the hidden spirit of objects and on nature: tools used to serve humans end up paying homage to the jungle, the forest, and this artist's particular zoo, with dogs, sheep, birds, or rhinoceroses.
Likewise, the group Ingravidesa Sculpture Alliance is dedicated to giving a second life to roots discarded by the wood industry and transforms them into large-scale works that are, in turn, weightless. In their hands, these rejected roots are transformed into sensitive monuments of a noble material.
