Uniqlo opens a one-thousand-square-meter store in La Maquinista

The Japanese chain intensifies its presence in Barcelona with the opening of a fourth store

The Japanese group Fast Retailing, owner of Uniqlo, revives its commitment to Barcelona with the inauguration this Thursday of a new 1,000 square meter establishment in the La Maquinista shopping center. The store joins those the brand already has in Passeig de Gràcia ---inaugurated in 2017---, in the Glòries shopping center and on Diagonal.

Uniqlo's new opening in Barcelona contrasts with its limited presence in Madrid, where the chain only has one establishment located on Goya street. In Europe, the Asian firm operates in ten countries, such as France, Germany, the United Kingdom and Russia, with a network of ninety points of sale. Worldwide, it has 2,200 stores in 25 countries.

The opening in La Maquinista has led to the creation of 30 new jobs. The store is located in the so-called Fashion Zone of the shopping center, which has just been renovated by the Unibail Rodamco Westfield group, also owner of Glòries. "With this new store in the popular La Maquinista shopping center, we want to bring our lifewear clothing concept to even more Barcelonians," said Kohsuke Kobayashi, Uniqlo's operations director in Spain.
