The startup Trialing wants to ensure that all patients can have access to any clinical trial being conducted, regardless of the healthcare center where they are located. Driven by doctors, the Barcelona-based startup has created a platform that gathers the different investigations underway throughout Spain and allows them to be filtered according to the needs of each patient. In a few clicks, healthcare professionals can find the most suitable trial for each case and contact the hospital conducting it in less than 24 hours.
"Until now, the most common approach is to rely on contacts and ask acquaintances, a method that doesn't give you access to all the information," explains its CEO, Max Hardy-Werbin. Trialing's platform also uses algorithms to ensure that the available information is the most up-to-date, thus allowing for correct decision-making by doctors. "In government registries, it's hard to find updated information, and they don't have the appropriate search filters or contact details to quickly refer patients," adds Hardy-Werbin.
Trialing, available in web version or mobile app, currently collects about 900 clinical trials, offered free of charge to healthcare personnel, patients, and hospitals. "We cannot monetize the greater or lesser visibility or positioning of a clinical trial or a hospital because we would jeopardize offering the best information to doctors," states Hardy-Werbin.
For now, they are focused on oncology and hematology research but plan to include other medical branches. Both in Barcelona and the rest of Spain, they work with most centers that have active clinical trials. They also operate in Portugal and plan to start doing so in France.
Founded in 2021 in Barcelona, the company already has a team of 17 employees. It has been financed with private resources, both from the founders themselves and from investors. It has also received direct aid of 75,000 euros from Acció.
