Everyone has found the transfer at Paseo de Gràcia long. It's almost 240 meters that require five minutes (depending on how fast you walk) to go from the green line to the yellow line, and there's no better way to take it than as a necessary procedure that you have to go through no matter what. Aware of this reality, TMB is calling for ideas on how to improve the journey to make it more enjoyable, with music as the common thread.
The project will be channeled through the municipal foundation BIT Habitat, responsible for some recent innovations in the city such as the 21st-century panot. The Barcelona Music Lab foundation will also participate. A call will be opened for companies and startups to propose their improvement plans, being able to intervene, partially or integrally, on the floor, walls, and ceiling. Projects can be submitted from this Thursday until the end of February. The first selection of participants will be made in March, with the forecast of announcing the winner in July.
The best proposal will receive 50,000 euros to develop and implement the prototype in the station itself. In parallel, the three best-ranked proposals will receive a prize of 3,000 euros. Starting in November, the solution will be installed in a part of the interchange route.
For three months, data on its effectiveness will be collected and, if favorable, it will be extended to the entire Paseo de Gràcia transfer route. If it works, it is contemplated to extend it to other stations with heavy interchanges in the city. For those who think that everything would be solved more easily with conveyor belts, like those at Diagonal station, the problem is that the infrastructure in Paseo de Gràcia is too narrow and only has space for a single direction.
