When he arrived at the Clariana de Glòries, it took him a few seconds to understand what felt strange to him.
It wasn't the Torre Glòries shining in the background. Nor the people reading on the grass. Nor those people returning from a conference. Nor the children running among newly grown trees.
It was the birds.
He remembered that, years ago, that place was just traffic, smoke, and haste. Now, however, there was enough silence for the birds to return. And people who stayed there without looking at the time.
As he walked, he thought that Barcelona had always had that talent: to transform without ceasing to be itself. Perhaps that is why the city has been explaining itself to the world for more than a century. The Sociedad de Atracción de Forasteros already sensed it in 1908.
And as the birds crossed the sky of Glòries, he understood that there are cities that are not just visited: there are cities that, when you share them, still grow a little more.
