The Swiss medical technology group Ypsomed strengthens its commitment to Barcelona with the inauguration of the digital hub it began working on at the end of 2020, consolidating the research and development project it will carry out from the Catalan capital.
For the R&D center, the first this company opens outside the borders of the Helvetic country, Ypsomed will hire 60 workers in the next 12 months, a number higher than the 40 people it had initially planned.
In a first phase, the center has a staff of 30 workers, mainly composed of engineers, software, application and cloud systems developers, and data scientists.
The team will work on the search for new solutions and features in injection and infusion systems for self-medication, which Ypsomed develops and manufactures for the treatment of chronic diseases such as diabetes. Objective: to facilitate users' management of chronic diseases through medical devices.
The group specializes in the development of infusion solutions for the management of type 1 diabetes (mainly insulin pumps), and the provision of technology for the injection of liquid medications to pharmaceutical companies worldwide.

The company's leader recalls that, in the medtech sector, "the demand for digital solutions is on the rise because medical equipment needs them to exploit their full potential" and emphasizes that "Barcelona is the ideal place to develop these digital solutions."
