Between theater and music there is a good atmosphere. At least, it seems so, in Barcelona. At least, certainly, between Isabel Vidal, the general director of the Focus group and president of the Association of Theater Companies of Catalonia (Adetca), and Lluís Torrents, manager of the Razzmatazz venue and president of the Association of Concert Halls of Catalonia (Asacc), with whom I have been able to share a new Moments Estel·lars at Casa Seat, this time about the world of entertainment.
And the numbers help with this. Of course, also, good personal chemistry and mutual recognition of respective talent and good management, which undoubtedly floated in the air as they interacted. But, very clearly, figures that describe that Barcelona has overcome the pandemic crisis that caused so much suffering to theater and music venues also lead to this, undertaking for some time now a recovery that makes them live now in a sweet moment. Although, beware, because Torrents already warned that Barcelona, in this case too, should not be confused with Catalonia. And it is that, music venues, beyond the capital, are suffering.
This fact is the sum of many factors, but also of trends such as "eventization", which describes the growing pull among certain audiences when going to shows because it is "the place to be", rather than out of genuine interest in a specific singer, group, actor, or artist. And then, yes, one takes a photo leaving a record of the moment on social media. This is especially true for large festivals or premieres held in Barcelona city.
And this hits hard especially in the world of music, although also, in part, in a world of theater with many differences regarding its sister sector in the entertainment world, but with whom it shares that Barcelona has an offer for all phases of an individual's life.
This, now, is translating into a return to the venues that is very important and that continues to place the Catalan capital on the national, state, and international map.
