From cold cuts to fruit and cosmetics, the products on Mercadona's shelves draw a line of collaboration between the company and hundreds of local suppliers. The supermarket company made purchases worth 5.226 billion euros in Catalonia during 2024, a figure that translates into purchases from 240 specialist suppliers and inter-suppliers, and more than 1,700 Catalan SMEs or those based in the territory.

These more than 5.2 billion euros in purchases represent an increase of 4.4% compared to the previous year, and reflect Mercadona's willingness to support the local productive fabric. Through this relationship with its suppliers, last year it bought more than 39 million kilos of fruit from companies in Lleida —such as Catafruit, Nufri and La Coma Fruits—, and Girona, such as Fructícola Empordà and Girona Fruits.

To these figures are added 135 million kilos of cold cuts served by Catalan companies such as Casa Tarradellas, Embutidos Monter, Noel and La Selva, among others; the 13.5 million cakes and tarts from Pastisfred (Montblanc), the 16 million units of liquid Kefir produced by Productes del Moianès in Moià, the 3.5 million kilos of rice from the Ebro delta and the 2.1 million kilos of fresh fish from the Catalan coast, examples of Mercadona's strategic commitment to local suppliers.

And it doesn't stop there: in the field of personal hygiene, Laboratorios Maverick, from Ulldecona, has commercialized more than 100 million units of bath gels and shampoos, and You Cosmetics, in Gavà, and Wecolors, in Vilassar de Dalt, have produced 42.8 million units of cosmetic products for Mercadona, such as make-up, blushes, lipsticks, eye shadows, mascaras and nail polish, among many other products. As for home cleaning and care, the company Saplex, based in Canovelles, has delivered nearly 80 million rolls of garbage bags.
