The startup founded by Barcelona entrepreneurs Domma has closed a financing round with which it has raised 950,000 euros, with the aim of strengthening its work in research on menopause and the treatment of its effects. The round has been led by Secways, a fund promoted from Barcelona by the founder of Cloudways, Pere Hospital. Domma has also had the support of Antai Ventures, an incubator and investor that had already backed the company. Based in Pier01 of Port Vell, Antai includes in its portfolio companies such as Glovo and Wallapop, in addition to Yumminn, Vitaance and Platanomelón.
Domma has also attracted various business angels with experience in the sector to the round, which has also had the support of the public Enisa. The emerging company will allocate the funds raised to boost scientific research and the development of new biotechnological solutions around menopause. The company, founded in 2021 by Barcelona natives Cristina Martínez and Mireia Roca, will also boost its commitment to the digitalization of support for women during the menopausal transition, and will open new channels with the aim of reaching more potential consumers.
In its second year of activity, the company registered a growth of 350% compared to 2022. In 2023, it reached 100,000 users of its natural and non-invasive treatments, developed to treat the symptoms generated by the hormonal imbalance of menopause, both physically and emotionally. Domma proposes to address the effects of this change through a personalized treatment and support plan.
All in a context in which Domma co-founder Mireia Roca highlights the importance of "normalizing the entire menopausal transition process" without resigning oneself to suffering the symptoms and discomfort generated especially by hormonal imbalance. "They can be alleviated with the natural, science-based alternatives that we have developed at Domma," adds Roca, while Cristina Martínez adds that the financing round will allow the company "to continue fighting against the stigma of menopause so that women can live this stage of changes in the best possible way."
"We believe that the work Domma is doing to generate content and act as a loudspeaker is fundamental to eliminate the taboo surrounding menopause," agrees Antai Ventures partner Eduardo Salvo. For their part, Secways has highlighted the company's contribution to improving the quality of life for women affected by the physical and emotional consequences of the natural process that is menopause.
