The Salón Ocasión, organized by Fira de Barcelona, is warming up for a new edition. Palace 8 of the Montjuïc venue will once again become the city's largest dealership for a few days in a context of sales recovery in the automotive sector. It will do so with the exhibition of more than 2,500 pre-owned vehicles from brands such as Abarth, Audi, Citroën, Ford, Hyundai, Jeep, Kia, Seat, or Mercedes-Benz, which will offer discounts, also taking advantage of Black Friday. From Wednesday, November 22, to Sunday, November 26, the fair will open at 10 AM and close at 8 PM, with access through Plaza España.
The event is gradually leaving behind the impact of the pandemic, with a first post-coronavirus edition in 2022, and will grow in the number of cars exhibited, with 25% more than last year, as well as in the exhibition space it will occupy, with 14,000 square meters, 17% more. It is also recovering from the impact of inflation, but also from the lack of chips and the generalized halt in fleet renewal that has specifically affected the automotive sector. According to data from the Catalan Employers' Association of Automotive Distribution (Fecavem), so far this year, more than 255,000 cars and SUVs have been sold in Catalonia, a figure that represents a 20% growth compared to 2022.
"In an economic context where prices remain high, acquiring a second-hand vehicle, at a more competitive price than a new one but with all guarantees, is a more convenient alternative than ever," says the president of Salón Ocasión, Jaume Roura. Under the slogan Prices that fly, the fair expects to exceed the sales achieved last year in this 41st edition, when it closed its doors with 800 vehicles sold and a business volume of 19 million euros.
Hall 8 of the Plaza España exhibition center will be filled with utility vehicles from the main brands in the sector, but also with premium units from zero kilometer, management, demonstration, courtesy, and company cars. Abarth, Aiways, Alfa Romeo, Audi, Citroën, Cupra, Dacia, DS Automobiles, Fiat, Ford, Honda, Hyundai, Jaguar, Jeep, Kia, Land Rover, Lexus, Lotus, Mazda, Mercedes-Benz, MG, Mitsubishi, Nissan, Opel, Peugeot, Renault, Seat, Skoda, Smart, SsangYong, Subaru, Suzuki, Toyota, Volvo, and Volkswagen will be some of the brands seen at the Salón Ocasión, which has the support of the Gremi del Motor and Fecavem. In order to guarantee the perfect condition of each vehicle and its immediate circulation, the entire catalog of models on display will have the dealer's warranty and will be inspected by the verification company TÜV Rheinland.
In addition, all vehicles will have at least the environmental label C, which allows circulation without restrictions in the low emission zones being implemented in different Catalan municipalities. This translates into a wide variety that will allow close viewing of models ranging from hybrid, plug-in hybrid, and electric engines to gasoline cars and, to a lesser extent, diesel. With the aim of promoting more sustainable mobility, Salón Ocasión has created a space dedicated exclusively to used electric cars that complements the rest of the offer present in the exhibition area of Hall 8.
New website
This edition will see the launch of a new website for the show, which will include a selection of the vehicles on display, with photographs and information on their equipment, engine, energy label, and sale price. Through this website, it will be possible to request an appointment with the sales team of the exhibitors during the event.
Beyond the exhibition of 2,500 vehicles, Salón Ocasión will coincide with the ninth Catalonia Automotive Conference, organized on Wednesday, November 22, by the Catalan employers' association Fecavem and the Spanish employers' association Faconauto. It will take place at the Palau de Congressos de Barcelona and will feature the participation of the Minister of Business and Labor, Roger Torrent, and the first deputy mayor of Barcelona, Laia Bonet. An open session will also be held for students of the Sales Management and Commercial Spaces training cycle, oriented towards the automotive sector.
