The Port of Barcelona continues to advance in what will be its future configuration. The infrastructure's board of directors has awarded Sato and Rubau the contracts to build the three docks for the future ferry terminal that will complete the Moll Adossat, with a budget of 54 million euros.
The works, with an execution period of more than four years, will represent the culmination of the construction of the Moll Adossat, which will concentrate most of the passenger traffic of the Port of Barcelona.
The works will consist of the construction of three docks ---one with a draft of 12 meters and two more with 8.5 meters---. The project also includes the infrastructure that will connect the new docks with those of the last phase of the Moll Adossat expansion, in addition to the access road.
The construction of this terminal is part of the process of relocating passenger operations closer to the city, agreed with the City Council in 2018 to move cruise ships away from the urban fabric.
Within this process, the Moll Barcelona Nord cruise terminal and the Baleària terminal have already been closed, and the Barcelona Sud terminal will close in 2026. This progressive relocation is also generating new public spaces, such as the recently opened Moll Barcelona Nord to the public, with which Barcelona has gained a 600-linear-meter promenade along the sea.
