Hats & Horses lands this June 19 in Barcelona. For one day, the facilities of the Real Club de Polo will be filled with glamour in a recreational-sporting event in the purest Ascot style, one of England's tourist icons. Cocktail dresses, hats, daring fascinators and wide-brimmed hats will parade through the Polo coinciding with the celebration of the CSI 2* international show jumping competition.
The first edition of Hats & Horses was held in Menorca in 2018 with the aim of bringing together, in a relaxed and festive gathering, fans of the equestrian world, both residents of the island ---where there is a deep-rooted culture linked to horses--- and tourists. That first edition of Hats & Horses, held in Mahón, brought together about a thousand people, which encouraged the entrepreneur leading the event, the Catalan Ariadna Vilalta, to hold other editions in Ciutadella and also in Palma de Mallorca.
The Barcelona event is already her sixth Hats & Horses, a brand she wants to grow and hopes can maintain its presence in the Catalan capital. "Barcelona needs an event like Hats & Horses; we want to help the city with an event that in the future wants to consolidate itself as a spring tourist attraction and that combines the world of equestrianism and sport with gastronomy and local commerce," Vilalta explained to The New Barcelona Post last March.
The Polo has set up a space for Hats & Horses in the first grandstand, so attendees can enjoy the show jumping competition and show off their best outfits while having a glass of cava or participating in the activities planned by the event organizers. The most anticipated is the competition to award the prize for the best-dressed woman, the best-dressed man, and the most glamorous couple of the day. Access, from eleven in the morning to six in the afternoon, costs 25 euros.
