The Palau Güell immerses itself in live music with its organ as the protagonist

With the 'Orgànic' cycle, the modernist palace proposes an immersive sound experience in which renowned musicians and new technologies will participate

Organ music will combine with art and technology in a modernist setting with privileged acoustics. It will do so in the 'Orgànic' cycle at Palau Güell, which will offer a unique sound experience on Thursdays, November 14, 21, and 28. The cycle, directed by master organ builder Albert Blancafort, will bring together heritage and modernity, turning Palau Güell into a meeting point for new musical trends where sounds and lights will dialogue with the architectural space.

The event, unique in its category, will bring together three renowned artists from the current music scene: Carles Viarnès, on November 14; Raül Refree, on the 21st, and the Czech Katta, who will close the cycle on November 28. Each of them, with their own artistic vision, will interact with the organ to create an immersive sound experience in Gaudí's palace, owned by the Barcelona Provincial Council.

Palau Güell has an element that differentiates it from any other Gaudí space in the city: the organ that presides over the Central Hall and which, with its sound, conveys the primordial importance of music in the conception of this space. For this reason, the sound experiences of the 'Orgànic' cycle will be held in this hall, combining classical elements and technology to explore new forms of musical expression.

The cycle, with tickets at 15 euros, will seek to immerse the audience by playing with the Palau organ and two additional organs, which will highlight the sound of Gaudí's building, designed with excellent acoustics at the express request of Eusebi Güell.

The current organ replaced the 1888 one during the restoration of the Palau, as the original had disappeared, and has a system that allows it to be played not only as a normal organ, but also with technological devices such as keyboards, computers, tablets, and other interfaces. With this particularity, the instrument opens up to many other artists, composers, performers, and creators who are not necessarily organists, something that was already demonstrated with the 'Parabòlic' events in 2018 and 'Hyperorgan' in 2022.

Now, the Palau organ will once again be the protagonist with this cycle, which will open on November 14 with Carles Viarnès. A pianist and composer, he will focus his audition as an Exhibition of Sound Paintings, in which he will treat each of the three organs as a living and ephemeral painting.

On Thursday 21st it will be the turn of the interpreter, composer and music producer Raül Refree. With the title Interleggere ad affectum —Reading between emotion—, his session will dialogue between the artist's emotions and the interaction of a computer with artificial intelligence, which will generate a sound response that will also become emotional.

The Czech organist Katta, who composes and produces her music and accompanies it with her voice, will present a version of her latest work, Vox Organi, adapted to the Palau. Using the most sophisticated technology applied to pipe organs, she proposes an exploration of the most remote sacred themes of Central Europe. Katta's session will close the cycle, which reaffirms the commitment of Palau Güell to live music and cultural innovation.
