Music is an indispensable element of any celebration, including Christmas, and the Palau de la Música Catalana could not let these dates pass without a specific proposal for the holidays. Again, the modernist concert hall has designed a program that evokes Christmas and the changes of years and seasons, with concerts for all audiences and preferences.

The Nadal al Palau cycle, which will run until Saturday, January 11, will kick off on Monday, December 9, with the Cor Cererols. With Marc Díaz as conductor and at the organ, the choir, which emerged from the Escolania de Montserrat, will perform a reconstruction of the liturgy of Joan Cererols' Completes, recontextualizing them in the celebration of Christmas. Works by Karlsen, Victoria, and Palestrina will complete the program of this first Christmas concert at the Palau.

Saturday night, the 14th, will be for La Nit de Nadal by Joan Lamote de Grignon, with the Orquestra Simfònica del Vallès, l'Orfeó Català and its children's choir, conducted by Salvador Brotons. They will be accompanied by the voices of soprano Elionor Martínez and baritone Ferran Albrich, in a concert that will include the symphonic poem Puigsoliu by Joaquim Serra and Nadales Catalanes by Brotons, who will also conduct the concert.

Another Christmas classic will be featured this season at the Palau: Tchaikovsky's The Nutcracker, in four sessions between December 15 and January 5. The Orquestra Simfònica del Vallès, conducted by Daniel Gil de Tejada and with Luis Posada as narrator, will transport the audience to a dreamlike world with artist Borja González, who creates changing images with sand.

The Orquestra Simfònica del Vallès will once again make the Palau vibrate on Saturday, December 21, with a concert of Viennese waltzes and polkas conducted by Xavier Puig. The concert will review 2024 through 12 significant moments of the year set to music, with the voice of soprano Marta Mathéu.

Vivaldi's The Four Seasons will invite you on a musical journey on December 22 and January 3 and 12. The concert will be performed by the baroque orchestra Vespres d'Arnadí, with Farran Sylvan James on violin, who will explore the various seasons and the transition between them under the baton of Dani Espasa.

The celebrated Hallelujah from Handel's Messiah will resonate in the Palau on December 22. Soprano Maria Hinojosa, mezzo-soprano Marta Infante, tenor Marc Sala, and baritone Guillem Batllori will lend their voices to the piece alongside the Cor Bruckner Barcelona and with Vespres d'Arnadí, under the direction of Xavier Puig.

Furthermore, the traditional Sant Esteve Concert will bring together, as every year, all the formations of the Orfeó Català choral family. On this occasion, pieces such as carols and classical themes will once again be part of the program, as well as premiere works by Catalan composers who have been expressly invited to compose for this concert, the most important of the year for the Orfeó choirs. Tickets for the traditional concert have already sold out, but it can be followed through Palau Digital.

Conductor Isabel Rubio will take the Palau with the New Year's Concert alongside the Orquestra Simfònica del Vallès between December 29 and January 2. Waltzes and polkas from the Strauss dynasty will make up a traditional concert to the rhythm of Viennese music to bid farewell to 2024 and welcome the new year.

Musicals will also play a prominent role in the Palau's Christmas season, with two concerts on January 4 and 11. The Orquestra Simfònica del Vallès and conductor Marc Timón will review musical classics such as Jesus Christ Superstar, Cats, The Phantom of the Opera, Les Misérables, Cabaret, West Side Story, The Lion King, and La La Land. A battery of great hits that will invite attendees to hum along, within a Palau program that stands out among the city's proposals to celebrate this Christmas.

In addition, the little ones will take over the Palau on the mornings of the weekend of December 14 and 15, with BaBeBra & Mozart, a classical music concert aimed at children up to five years old. It will include pieces by Mozart, Bach, Beethoven, and Brahms, in a concert with stage and choreographic direction by CobosMika Company, which will have more sessions beyond Christmas.

With these proposals, the Palau de la Música Catalana appeals to all audiences to celebrate Christmas through music and from a modernist setting that serves as a framework for the holidays and to welcome a new year.
