The US multinational The Knot Worldwide will centralize its international technology hub in Barcelona, serving all divisions of the group specialized in digital wedding planning.
The company has decided to move the team of technology product developers and innovation from Sant Cugat to the Catalan capital, starting in March 2023 and completing the relocation in September of that year.
The decision was made after recently announcing that Barcelona had been chosen as the multinational's headquarters to boost its technology center for international operations, through its Bodas.net division. To this end, the group has reaffirmed that it plans to close the year by incorporating more than 250 people, a large part with a tech profile, to the current team of 500 employees.
Currently, the Barcelona office centralizes business from 14 markets in Europe, Asia, and Latin America, coordinating almost 1,000 developers of 23 nationalities, and offers technological service to all The Knot Worldwide brands globally. Among them, The Knot, WeddingWire, Bodas.net, Hitched, and Matrimonio.com.
The new offices are located on Calle Pau Claris, in a building that is under construction and in which The Knot Worldwide has rented 3,600 square meters ---ground floor and the first three floors---, "with the aim of improving worker accessibility, adapting the new headquarters to the hybrid work format (in-person and remote)," the company assures.
Ángel Llull, International President of The Knot Worldwide and head of the Barcelona hub, states that "The Knot Worldwide's international markets are growing at a great pace and in the last two years we have changed the way we work and every month we need to incorporate new talent, so our offices must also adapt to these changes and evolve to keep pace with the company's growth." Until now, the group owner of Bodas.net had offices on Balmes Street in Barcelona and the bulk of the team was in the Sant Cugat facilities, a workspace that will be maintained to support the local team.
