The New Barcelona Post has been distinguished with the Award for Best Digital Editorial Design granted by APPEC magazine and digital publishers, in recognition of its "ability to combine attractive content with clear, intuitive navigation and a modern aesthetic that favors online reading".
The award will be presented within the framework of the 25th Night of Magazines and Press in Catalan, which will be held next Wednesday, November 5, at the Casino l'Aliança del Poblenou in Barcelona, in an edition that will also award Oryx and Som Garrigues, distinguished with recognition for Best Editorial Design in the magazine and press categories, respectively.
According to APPEC, these awards highlight the importance of design as a tool to "attract readers, reinforce media identity, and enhance the quality of the press and magazines in Catalan", both in print and digital format.
For Guillem Carol, editor of The New Barcelona Post, this award represents recognition "for journalism done with rigor, constancy, and a constructive outlook. Journalism can be practiced from many perspectives, and we have chosen to do so from positivity." The editor also reflected on "the complexity of the world we live in" and the magazine's desire to build hope, with a Barcelona vision: "Barcelona, understood from its metropolitan area, is our reason for being; and we want to explain it, but also build it."
The magazine's director, Elena Busquets, expressed her gratitude for the award and championed the role of design as an essential part of the reading experience: "We receive this recognition with great gratitude and with the enthusiasm of that baker or artisan who has seen their work, slow-cooked, with great care and demanding standards, valued and recognized by those who see and taste it. And we also receive it as a reminder: valuable content cannot be consumed easily and trivially; it is an enriching experience that requires time and also needs good accompaniment, design."
With this award, The New Barcelona Post sees its commitment to quality, visual care, and the reading experience recognized, in a celebration that will bring together the entire Catalan press and magazine sector in Poblenou.
The New Barcelona Post wants to reinforce its commitment to Barcelona and to the construction of a narrative that highlights the talent, innovation, culture, and economic dynamism of the city. In this regard, the digital magazine announced this September the constitution of an Advisory Board composed of top-level personalities from the business, institutional, cultural, and academic fields, with the aim of generating synergies with the city's main public and private initiatives. In addition, it has expanded its offer of meetings, to become a generator of debate and narrative for Barcelona, with the launch of the Eixample Talks cycle at the Pimec headquarters, which joins the Moments Estel·lars sessions at Casa Seat, True Leaders with the EY consultancy, and Els esmorzars de Forquilla at the Barcelona Chamber of Commerce.
