The EU Digital Covid Certificate allows travel between the member states of the European Union (EU) and is also essential in Catalonia to access certain spaces such as nightlife venues, indoor standing music festivals, and celebrations in hotels and restaurants where dancing takes place in enclosed areas. Soon, it will be required in the interiors of bars and restaurants, in gyms and sports centers, and in nursing homes, in response to the increase in the incidence of covid-19 in recent days.
It is important to remember that the use of a mask is mandatory in all indoor spaces, except when eating or drinking, and in outdoor spaces if the safe interpersonal physical distance cannot be maintained.
Types of digital certificate
There are three types of EU digital covid certificates, all equally valid:
--- If vaccinated against covid-19
--- If covid-19 has been contracted in the last 6 months and a positive PCR test is available that is registered in the Catalan health system
--- If a negative diagnostic test, RAT or PCR, from an authorized center is available
1.- If the person is vaccinated against covid-19, in this case the document is called the Covid-19 Vaccination Certificate. Citizens can download this document if they have completed the vaccination schedule, with vaccines approved by the European Union: Pfizer/BioNTech, Moderna/Lonza, Oxford/AstraZeneca or J&J/Janssen.
If not vaccinated, it is necessary to request a day and time for the vaccine at vacunacovidsalut.cat and citasalut.gencat.cat.
If not vaccinated, the other two certificates can be requested. With the exception of children under 12, who are not required to have any digital covid certificate to access these venues.
2.- If the person has contracted covid-19 in the last 6 months and has a positive PCR test registered in the Catalan health system, they can download the Covid-19 Recovery Certificate.
To obtain it, a minimum of 11 days and a maximum of 180 days must pass since the positive PCR result for covid-19.
By European directive, the rapid antigen test (RAT) is not valid for obtaining the covid-19 recovery certificate. It will be necessary to wait 2 months from the positive diagnosis to receive a dose of vaccine and be able to obtain the Covid-19 Vaccination Certificate.
3.- If a negative diagnostic test is available, the Negative COVID-19 Diagnostic Test Certificate is obtained. How to download the EU Digital Covid Certificate?
To download the certificate or have it in physical format, there are two ways:
1.- Download the La Meva Salut application on your mobile or consult lamevasalut.gencat.cat on your computer. Once inside this digital space, it can be obtained under Vacunes and Certificat Covid Digital UE.

2.- It can also be acquired on any website or app of a public health service.
It is important to note that the web app for verifying the digital covid-19 certificate lamevasalut.gencat.cat/alta works with a QR reader. Therefore, the valid document to access all these spaces is solely the digital COVID certificate with the QR code, and thus, any other document justifying vaccination will not be valid.
People who do not have a health card from the Catalan Health System and therefore do not have a CIP, will be able to obtain the negative covid-19 diagnostic test certificate with their DNI through https://certificatproves.catsalut.gencat.cat
