The dreamlike and unsettling house of Guillermo Lorca

Among feline beasts with hypnotic eyes, spectral-looking teenagers, and almost theatrical compositions, Guillermo Lorca (Santiago de Chile, 1984)—internationally recognized as one of the great exponents of contemporary figurative painting, with a clear baroque influence— unfolds his first major anthological exhibition in Spain at the MEAM. Although Lorca is no longer unknown to the city of Barcelona, with a constant presence at the MOCO Museum, The Sand House represents the first major immersion into his dreamlike universe. Through seven rooms, as if it were a grand house of painting, the Chilean painter invites us to enter each room, inhabited by innocent but also ferocious creatures and scenes of a serene and unsettling beauty at the same time.
