The Design Market Barcelona returns to Disseny Hub. After two years of being held virtually, the market resumes its in-person format to establish itself as a benchmark fair for design lovers. In the current edition, the FAD (Foment de les Arts i del Disseny) presents a total of 113 exhibitors in the Disseny Hub building, located in Plaza de les Glòries in Barcelona, who will showcase their latest creations. Between December 16 and 18, the market will host the best products and creations from the most promising designers at both national and local levels.
The selection of participants was carried out by a committee made up of professionals from the five FAD associations related to the products to be exhibited: industrial design; graphic design and audiovisual communication; art and crafts; fashion and accessories; architecture and interior design.
In its tenth edition, the Design Market Barcelona has managed to bring together 113 creators who present a wide variety of designs in fields as diverse as lighting, toys, home crafts, jewelry, furniture, works of art, publications, and gastronomy.
In this last section, the reinterpretation of Chocoletters chocolates stands out, an initiative promoted by engineer Andrés Gómez and typography designer Bogidar Mascareñas. Also noteworthy is the project of Bodegas de las Nietas de Bernabé, a small winery located in the town of Baños de Valdearados (Burgos), which produces no more than 4,000 bottles a year and will soon be part of the DO Ribera del Duero.
Among the latest trends, the presence of glass craftsmanship stands out. The Glass Apprentive, a project by young glassmaker and designer Pròsper Riba Vilardell. This creator, trained in Germany, presents a blown glass project where design and craftsmanship converge to create unique works. In this same sector, Lucirmás, which has been working since 2006 under the philosophy of creating unique and sustainable pieces from glass, will also be present.
Regarding limited art works, the artist from L'Hospitalet de Llobregat Joan Canals stands out with his contemporary plastic work, which has already been exhibited in galleries in the United States, United Kingdom, China, Argentina, Mexico, or India, among others. The Design Market Barcelona also reserves a space for students to present their projects, among the most prominent we find Estudi Júlia Capella, from Escola Massana.
During the three market days, opening hours vary. On Friday, December 16, the market will open only in the afternoon, from 3 p.m. to 9 p.m. On Saturday, however, it can be enjoyed from eleven in the morning to nine at night, and on Sunday also from 11 a.m., but only until 8 p.m.
The entrance fee is 3 euros, and access is free for children under 16. The organization expects an attendance of close to 10,000 visitors over the three market days.
This year, the market has opted to keep active the digital platform that was created to celebrate the last two editions virtually. In this way, this platform will serve as a showcase to publicize the brands and products selected for 2022 and continue promoting the Design Market Barcelona.
