The Barcelona-based biotechnology company Regenera Activa Worldwide and the Italian Rigenera HBW have decided to ally under the Remedi brand, with the aim of making it a global benchmark and leader in the field of regenerative medicine. Both companies aim to register an annual growth of 20% with this operation, through which they will add 50 employees distributed in four countries and an annual turnover of more than 13 million euros.

Remedi addresses the treatment of musculoskeletal pathologies through a minimally invasive Rigenera therapy. Backed by more than 80 clinical studies, this technology obtains rapid results in patients with an intervention that does not require hospitalization.

The treatment uses the regenerative potential of the body's own adult stem cells, which become therapeutic when transferred to a similar tissue. Thus, this process turns the patient into their own donor, so there is no possibility of rejection of the injected cells.

The applications of this technology are multiple and range from the treatment of osteoarthritis to that of joint degeneration. Remedi's technology can stop the progression of osteoarthritis, in a context where it is one of the diseases with the highest prevalence, with seven million people suffering from it in Spain, where it represents the third cause of work incapacity.

However, the applications go further, and cover fields such as dermatology, hair regeneration and the treatment of stretch marks, in addition to the healing of complex wounds. In this area, Remedi has collaborated with NATO in the development of kits for healing, and with the European Space Agency in a project focused on wounds in cases of long exposure to microgravity.

Thus, the merger represents an opportunity to "continue demonstrating the new applications of Rigenera in other fields of medicine that allow us to help more and more patients," according to the CEO of Rigenera HWB, Antonio Graziano. With an objective, according to the CEO of Regenera Activa Worldwide, Alexandre Andreu: "To mark a new era in the field of regenerative medicine worldwide."
