Her sister is in the next room. She hears her sniffling. They are about to finish and are running out of boxes. She has left her old room for last. There is the nightstand, immaculately white, as if years had not passed it by. She finds old diaries, always half-finished, gadgets that broke down, and cables she doesn't know what they are for. Loose photos, old glasses. She touches something hard at the bottom and her pulse quickens. She knows that metallic feel of a recycled cookie tin by heart. She doesn't need to open it to know everything inside.
