Two replicas of the historic America's Cup trophy have invaded the main tank of L'Àquarium de Barcelona. These 3D printed structures with multiple cavities serve to promote the proliferation of marine life. They are a sample of the BCN Sotamar project, promoted by the BCN Port Innovation foundation and the organizers of the regatta.

Their presence in L'Àquarium aims to show and explain to the public the functioning of the seven biotopes that will be placed on the seabed of Sant Sebastià beach, in Port Vell. The company in charge of designing these habitats for fish and other marine animals has been Underwater Gardens International.

The launch of this project is part of the legacy of the America's Cup in Barcelona. "Sustainability is at the heart of the regatta," defends the CEO of America's Cup Event, Grant Dalton, also CEO of the winning team of the last edition and in charge of organizing the current one.

BCN Sotamar also includes a wide range of educational and awareness activities, such as educational programs, guided tours, interactive workshops, and immersive experiences. In addition, beach and seabed cleaning campaigns are an integral part of the initiative.
