The Abacus cooperative has won the 2022 Empresa Cultura Award, granted by the Fundació Catalunya Cultura. This distinction aims to promote and make visible companies that stand out for their commitment and contribution to the promotion and support of culture in Catalonia. The jury has valued the "commitment", "resilience" and "bet on proximity" of the Abacus cooperative "in all its initiatives".

In parallel, the Muntem un Festival project has won the Impulsa Cultura Award, an initiative that, according to the jury, stimulates "emotion and entrepreneurship" by dedicating itself to a segment of the population "underserved by the musical offer at a time of formation as people". Likewise, the project creates "talent for the future of the industry".

In the case of Abacus, the jury has also highlighted its "pedagogical dissemination capacity" and the "permanent" promotion of debate around universal culture. The Abacus cooperative was founded in 1968 in Barcelona as a social transformation project to facilitate access to cultural, educational and leisure products. The Catalunya Cultura Foundation highlights that the awarded cooperative supports culture through awards, calls and actions dedicated to film production, art, historical dissemination and education, according to the ACN.

Along with the Empresa Cultura Award, which was presented this Thursday at the Impulsa Cultura Gala held at the Teatre de Sarrià, in Barcelona, the Foundation has also awarded the Impulsa Cultura Award. This award, endowed with 10,000 euros and with a work by the artist Musa71, recognizes one of the ten finalist projects that have participated in this year's Impulsa Cultura Program that has stood out for its sustainability, value proposition, replication capacity and ability to forge alliances.

During the gala, hosted by communicator Òscar Dalmau, the finalists presented their initiatives to an audience mainly composed of representatives from the business sector. The finalist projects were Sala Fénix, Identify, Orthemis, Muntem un Festival, Music.cat, Passenger Tales, El reto literario, Cualquier noche, Festival Wallay and Vozes.

After the presentations, the jury, made up of professionals with a recognized trajectory in the cultural and business fields, announced the winner, the Muntem un Festival project.

This is an initiative that gives adolescents from public high schools the opportunity to participate in and lead the process of creating and managing new cultural models, establishing links between young people, institutions, and cultural companies. The jury has also decided to award two special mentions to the Vozes and Passengers Tales projects.
