To propel Catalan fashion internationally. With this objective, 080 Barcelona Fashion was born, promoted by the Consortium of Commerce, Crafts and Fashion (CCAM) of the Department of Business and Labor of the Generalitat, which annually organizes two fashion weeks to showcase the main novelties of Catalan fashion. The event will celebrate its 35th edition from April 1 to 4 at the modernist complex of Sant Pau, under the motto Metamorphosis. An idea that synthesizes the growth stage in which 080 is currently, at a time when the event seeks to expand into a new location, as well as increase the number of activities throughout the year, beyond the two fashion shows organized annually.
"We are satisfied with the historical relationship with the emblematic modernist complex, but 080 evolves, grows and there will be changes in the future," confirmed the director of CCAM, Moisés Rodríguez. The organization hopes to find a "larger" space for 2026 and is beginning to evaluate proposals with the aim of growing internationally. Meanwhile, the April and October editions will again be held in the modernist building, despite the initial forecast that the April edition would be the last held in this space.
Beyond its location, 080 faces a stage of "transformation," according to Rodríguez, to be able to have continuity throughout the year, in addition to the two fashion shows organized in spring and autumn. Thus, the event will propose new formats and activities, in addition to reinforcing proposals such as the competition for emerging clothing brands Rec.0. As a novelty, 080 Barcelona Fashion Content will be created, a digital business space to establish bridges between local brands and international buying companies.
The objective of this digital showroom, organized by the Catalan fashion cluster (MODACC), is to maximize international business opportunities and establish bridges between sector agents. The platform will open on April 30 with recordings and online catalogs of the participating brands and will remain open until the end of May. "We increasingly have a greater international presence," highlighted Marta Coca, project manager of 080, and now the organization focuses on attracting the interest of markets such as Asia or Arabia.
"The objective is to position Barcelona and Catalonia on the international fashion map," Coca emphasized, as well as to support "creative talent" and offer a space for internationalization to emerging local brands. Thus, in this edition, the number of brands that will debut for the first time has also increased, such as AAA Studio or Rubearth, alongside emblematic Catalan fashion brands, and recurring 080 brands, such as Custo or Lola Casademunt by Maite.
In total, 24 designers and brands will parade, including 404 Studio, AAA Studio, Acromatyx, Alvar Merino, Anel Yaos, Compte Spain, Custo Barcelona, Doblas, Dominnico, Eikō Ai, Eñaut, Ernesto Naranjo, Escorpion, Guillermo Justicia, Habey Club, Juan Vidal, Lola Casademunt by Maite, Maison Moonsieur, MANÉMANÉ, MaríaEscoté, Rubearth, Simorra, The Label Edition and Txell Miras.
Brands with "very different aesthetic proposals," which, for Coca, are also a reflection of the diversity existing in the Catalan fashion sector, an ecosystem made up of more than 13,500 brands and companies. A diversity that the organization also wants to promote on the catwalk with models of various sizes and gender expressions.
In addition, the 24 brands selected for the parade share "the idea of generating narrative and discourses through clothing," and promote values such as sustainability or circularity of clothing, in addition to reflecting concerns typical of the millennial generation and generation Z. "The common thread among the designs is constant duality, as well as the commitment of these designers to ethical and honest fashion," said the 080 project manager.
Again, during this edition, the Open Area will be organized, the space open to the city within the modernist complex of Sant Pau to watch the parades live on screens. A space that will also feature a parallel program of DJ sessions and the different activations of the sponsoring brands.
