SolarMente has reached profitability, and will close this year with monthly revenues of one million euros and total revenues of 7.3 million. The cleantech, positioned as an integral provider of clean technology with a subscription model, aims to triple its revenues next year, by opening in four new cities.
The company, founded in 2020 by Wouter Draijer and Victor Gardrinier in Barcelona, is also exploring launching its expansion across Europe. With an initial focus on Italy, the company, which counts Leonardo DiCaprio as a strategic investor, plans to undertake its internationalization at the end of next year.
The company, which has 84 employees and operates from a new, larger headquarters in L'Hospital de Llobregat, has also expanded its service portfolio beyond solar energy, as the Barcelona startup has ventured into advanced technologies in areas such as aerothermal energy.
The company is also developing an integral solution that will combine hardware and software to allow homes to maximize their energy savings. In addition, it is working on a home energy management solution that optimizes energy demand and efficiency.
"Our mission has always been to drive the energy transition, eliminate barriers to self-consumption and electrify 100% of Spanish homes with clean energy," defended Draijer, who founded the company with Gardrinier, a Canadian expert in innovation and blockchain, after meeting in the Catalan capital.
With these objectives, the company acquired the photovoltaic systems company Eltex in October. The operation reinforced its market positioning, in which it operates with its subscription model as a differential feature, which eliminates the initial financial investment usually required to enter photovoltaic self-consumption, with the aim of facilitating access.
