September is also a time for books (in Catalan)

Sant Jordi has April 23 marked in red on every reader’s calendar. But despite the importance of this celebration, the focus on books doesn’t end there: for more than four decades, every September La Setmana del Llibre en Català (Catalan Book Week) returns to put literature in the spotlight. For ten days, once again coinciding with the Festes de la Mercè, Passeig Lluís Companys becomes a major meeting point for Catalan books and literature — a place to discover new titles, browse books at leisure, meet authors and publishers, and be surprised by unexpected new reads.

This year’s edition features 125 new titles and brings together 282 publishing imprints that publish in Catalan. They include new works by authors such as Empar Moliner, Cristina Genebat, Etna Miró, and Regina Rodríguez-Sirvent, alongside international voices such as Adania Shibli, Leonardo San Pietro, and Clare Pollard.
