Saplex reaffirms its leadership as the main producer of garbage bags thanks to the commercial agreement it maintains with Mercadona to exclusively manufacture all bags of the Bosque Verde brand. In 2020, the Folch family company manufactured 46 out of every hundred garbage bags sold in Spain, a share that rises to 47.2% in the freezer bag business, where it is also the market leader. Manufacturing for Mercadona forces the company to make permanent investments, and the last fiscal year, marked by the pandemic, has been no exception, with 7.3 million allocated to the improvement and expansion of its production facilities, up 12.3%.

Specifically, Saplex has allocated 3.6 million to expand its Canovelles factory by 4,000 square meters, a figure that adds to the nearly 22.5 million it has invested in its production complex over the last five years. Another 3.7 million has been invested in machinery improvement and in the purchase of new production lines that have made possible the launch of a new product: the first 100% compostable bags ---made with corn starch--- equipped with easy-close handles. According to the company, thanks to this incorporation of the easy-close feature, sales of compostable bags have experienced growth of more than 50%.

Although Mercadona is Saplex's main client, the Barcelona-based company, which competes with groups such as Sphere, also markets bags under its brand in other supermarket chains and has an export division with clients in countries such as France, Belgium, Finland, Norway, United Arab Emirates, Sweden, Italy, Chile, and Peru. In the last year, the company has entered Denmark and Colombia and has quadrupled its sales in Portugal thanks to Mercadona's growth in that country.

The 2020 fiscal year closed with a turnover of 61.5 million euros, up 3%, and with the hiring of twelve people, bringing the total workforce to 140 employees.
