The last-mile logistics route optimization startup Routal has closed a one-million-euro investment round. In the operation, the Portuguese private equity H Capital and the European initiative company EIT Innoenergy participated, through which the French shipping company CMA CGM has invested.
The company, formerly called SmartMonkey, has an AI-based system to optimize last-mile logistics, and will allocate this capital injection to its growth in the Latin American market and to continue developing its product, in order to offer new functionalities linked to improvements in AI integration.
The startup Routal, created in 2015, invoiced 400,000 euros in 2023 and is present in more than thirty countries through 1,000 clients. Among them are companies such as Volkswagen, Mercedes Benz, Ametller Origen and the logistics operator Alfil Logisitics. With offices in Barcelona and Mexico City totaling 20 employees, Routal aims to improve the overall efficiency of logistics by 30%, thus maximizing the potential of teams and increasing operational efficiency and profit margins.
For this year, Routal expects to reach one million euros in turnover, boosting Spain and Latin America as main markets and beginning to explore the United States market, according to Xavier Ruiz, CEO and founder of the company along with Pablo Martínez and Iron González. With one goal: "To reduce the complexity of the last mile to a minimum."
