Rodalies has accumulated more than three decades bringing leisure and cultural activities closer to citizens by train through its offer of combined tickets. With this purpose, the operator has closed a record one hundred commercial agreements this year, which configure a range of proposals that cover the entire Catalan territory.
Specifically, the railway operator presents in Catalonia for this summer twenty proposals within this combined ticket modality, which offers discounts and advantages to those who travel by train to any of these experiences, ranging from Port Aventura to the Costa Brava, passing through routes among vineyards and, as a novelty, through the exhibition Sorolla, una nueva dimensión (Sorolla, a new dimension) within the Centre d'Art Ametller. "The objective is to link the train to recreational, leisure, tourism and cultural activities, so that citizens see the train as a companion beyond their daily routine," explained the manager of Rodalies' service provision, Anabel Arévalo.
Among the combined tickets that make up its summer offer are those destined for theme and water parks such as Port Aventura and Illa Fantasia, as well as experiences such as visiting Cavas Freixenet, cycling among vineyards in Penedès and delving into Catalunya en Miniatura. It also proposes a service that combines train and bus to visit Lloret and Tossa de Mar from Blanes train station and, as a novelty, advantages and discounts for nautical activities in centers of municipalities such as Salou and Cambrils.
In addition, Rodalies has agreements with museums and music festivals, to which it facilitates travel for both the outward and return journeys, even at times usually outside normal hours. The operator also offers a package that combines the train with the Barcelona tourist bus. This proposal is among the top 3 most successful combined tickets of the operator, which also include Port Aventura, in first position, and the journey that combines Rodalies and bus on the Costa Brava.
This year's summer season also includes agreements with Ideal and its immersive experience on Tutankhamun, and with the Centre d'Art Ametller and the exhibition that covers the life and work of Sorolla. The exhibition can be seen until September on the ground floor of Casa Ametller, which in four months has received 100,000 visitors, especially locals.
Combined ticket proposals accounted for 700,000 users last summer, and Rodalies aims to reach similar figures this year. These users are in addition to those who regularly travel by train and those who have the free pass for frequent travelers, who can also benefit from advantages in these facilities and experiences, through which Rodalies stands as a means of transport for leisure and culture moments.
