The BCN Film Fest prepares an edition full of novelties and with a star visit. Actor Richard Gere will return to the festival, in an edition that will dedicate a retrospective to Marcello Mastroianni, and that will feature films starring actors such as Cillian Murphy, Barbie Ferreira, and Emily Watson.
Gere will return to the BCN Film Fest this time as producer of the film Wisdom of happiness, which explores the world of the Dalai Lama, as announced by the festival director, Conxita Casanovas. The festival will be held from April 24 to May 2, with Cines Verdi as its main venue.
Among the films that will premiere at the festival are La furgo by Eloy Calvo, starring Pol López and based on the comic by Martín Tognola and Ramón Pardina. The official competition section will include titles such as Cuatro paredes, by Ibon Cormenzana with Manuela Vellés, Sofía Otero, and Roberto Álamo; La divina Sarah Bernhardt, by Guillaume Niclou, and Small things like these, by Time Mielants with Cillian Murphy and Emily Watson, among many others.
The festival, which last year opened with Casa en Flames by Dani de la Orden before becoming a success, also includes the non-competition section, which will feature titles such as Diamanti, by Ferzan Özpetek, and La mercancía más preciosa, by Michel Hazanavicius. The tribute to Marcello Mastroianni will include emblematic films such as La dolce vita, Fellini 8 1/2 and Los Girasoles.
