After four years of absence, a new edition of Retrobarcelona returns, the video game fair of the 80s and 90s, dedicated to all lovers of the classic and the vintage. The essence of classic consoles returns with renewed energy and with the will to recover the foundational spirit in this eighth edition, where ancestral video games are the protagonists.

Retrobarcelona is held this weekend, May 13 and 14, from 10 am to 8 pm at La Farga de L'Hospitalet de Llobregat. The venue has more than 5,000 square meters that will turn the enclosure into an authentic arcade with machines from the era, computers, and official tournaments. The ticket price is 14 euros and children under five years old have free access.

The objective of the exhibition is to revive the original gaming experience of the 80s and 90s, vindicating and disseminating that archaic culture on which an industry has grown that, today, moves millions. To do this, visitors can choose from 200 original systems provided by computers, video consoles, and pinballs. The fair intends to bring the public closer to the technical evolution of pioneering machines, as well as their impact on society.

The organizers promise a weekend marked by nostalgia and fun, presenting Retrobarcelona as a portal to the 80s, along with a program that offers a variety of activities. Among them, ten conferences given by renowned personalities from the industry stand out. One of them, about the thirtieth anniversary of the DOOM video game series, by popularizer and programmer Rafa Laguna and communication specialist Gina Zero.

Another event that fans will consider a mandatory stop is the round table with content creators and youtubers from the retro field such as Koyuki, Arlan, Tuberviejuner, or Raquel Cervantes. In addition, Retrobarcelona also offers the possibility of attending different musical concerts in which video game melodies will be performed. Víctor Martínez, keyboardist of the group DR. Prats, will also attend to perform the classic musical trivial.

The less shy will have the opportunity to demonstrate their skills as players in public and there will also be a market area to take home the great classics as souvenirs. This new edition contributes to the entrepreneurial attitude of fans and programmers, who will be able to present their own game proposals in a space for Homebrew.

This proposal will be repeated in the solidarity initiative of Video Games for Food, promoted by ASUPIVA with the aim of collecting non-perishable products for the Barcelona Food Bank. Centria tecnologia, Finetwork, Game and Teefactory.es join the event as sponsors of the festival.

Retrobarcelona wants to reclaim the archaic culture on which the gaming industry has grown.
