Brothers Pol and Lluís Soler, members of the third generation of the family that owns Quadis, are advancing their commitment to grow in the sustainable mobility sector with any type of vehicle. In the last year, Spain's largest car dealership group has also become a benchmark in bicycle sales thanks to the acquisition of Biciescapa and the Barcelona stores Probike and Bicisport. Now, they are entering the electric motorcycle business with the creation of MOW, a new multi-brand store concept focused exclusively on the sale of zero-emission motorcycles from different brands and manufacturers and across all segments.
MOW's goal is to achieve a turnover of three million euros during its first year of activity. The first store has just opened at number 165 on Urgell Street in Barcelona, although MOW also has its own online sales platform. "We aspire to convert current motorcyclists into zero-emission motorcyclists, and for that reason, we want to have brands from all segments," says Josep Maria Falcó, MOW's manager.
Barcelona is one of the most motorized European capitals, with an extensive fleet of motorcycles that will be electrified in the coming years to be more sustainable, a process that implies strong business potential that Quadis does not want to miss out on. "We want to offer electric mobility solutions for both the motorcyclist who needs a motorcycle for sporadic urban commutes and the one who uses the motorcycle in their daily life," Falcó points out.
With an area of more than 650 square meters, the first MOW store currently sells the American brand Zero Motorcycles, one of the most consolidated in the market, and also models from new local manufacturers, such as the Catalan Ray Electric Motors. "We believe that this duality of brands will allow us to make our way into the electric motorcycle market in Barcelona in a very dynamic way, where we project that this mode of transport will play an essential role as zero emissions," considers MOW's manager. Quadis's new subsidiary also aspires to become a benchmark in the Catalan capital for the sale of electric motorcycles in the premium segment.
In the Urgell mega-store, more than 30 models can be found on display. Potential customers will be able to test the motorcycles before purchase, a service that MOW assures is "differential" because this option is not always available. "It is of vital importance to be able to test the motorcycle before making any decision," emphasizes Falcó. In February, MOW Urgell will inaugurate the first multi-brand workshop exclusively for electric motorcycles in Barcelona.
Founded by Joan Soler Güell in 1940, the Quadis group owns more than one hundred car dealerships in Spain, with official representations of some 30 brands, from Mercedes, Audi or Volkswagen to luxury firms such as Ferrari and Aston Martin. With a turnover exceeding one billion euros, the company is currently led by brothers Lluís and Pol Soler, members of the third generation, who have just considerably multiplied their fortune thanks to the investment they made in the Catalan electric charger company Wallbox, which began trading on the New York Stock Exchange last June. Quadis invested and became a reference partner of Wallbox much earlier, in October 2016.
