The startup Nester has closed a financing round of 1.5 million euros to boost its software that simplifies and automates the daily management of rental properties for agencies, property managers, and operators. The Barcelona-based startup investment platform Dozen Investments has led the operation, in which investors such as Decelera, Core Angels, and other business angels have also participated.
With the funds obtained from the round, Nester aims to grow exponentially in the national market and undertake its internationalization. "We have spent the last year and a half refining the tool to be able to start scaling it," said Àlex Purull, co-founder and CEO of Nester. "Now we will focus mainly on the Spanish market, and we are starting to test it in certain international markets," especially in Europe, but also in Latin America.
The platform's objective is to optimize the profitability of properties through task automation, contract management, and payment tracking. In addition, it includes tools to facilitate communication and interaction between tenants and owners, for both properties and other assets, such as parking spaces, rooms, and storage units.
With its functionalities, Nester "is at the forefront of the needs of a sector that needs to prioritize operational efficiency, customer experience, and facilitate real estate management," according to Dozen Investments' Investment Director, Marc Olmedillo.
25,000 properties managed
Purull, who comes from the banking sector, set out with his partner Kástor del Olmo to explore how the same digital transformation that the banking sector had undergone could affect other areas. "We began to question why this process had reached banking and the real estate sector" and, after finding some American companies that were starting to advance in this direction, they concluded that real estate could be the next big sector to transform.
In this context, they founded the startup in 2021, also together with Ferran Castellví and Pere Solé, who joined as engineers and co-founders. They now lead the platform's development team, which carries significant weight in the company: it is made up of 12 of its 17 employees. Two years later, the startup closed its first funding round in 2023, with one million euros and led by Successful Ventures, Ingenico, and CaixaBank's vehicle, Global Payments.
Nester aims to reach 100,000 managed properties by 2025Since its launch, Nester has reached 25,000 managed properties from 250 property managers, and maintains agreements with leading companies in the real estate market. The platform, which declines to detail turnover figures, is available to companies starting from 89 euros, with rates that scale depending on the volume of clients. For 2025, the goal is to quadruple the managed properties and reach 100,000.
For this, Nester focuses on its international expansion. Hand in hand with clients that have activity in other markets, the tool already operates in Malta, Portugal, Andorra and France, and "the idea is to open market with them, and attract more clients." In addition to prioritizing its internationalization, the company remains focused on continuing to develop its platform, with the aim of opening it to other verticals linked to property management. With one goal: "to be the leaders in the European market."
