The month of August comes to an end, but Barcelona's cultural agenda remains in full swing. Although the new academic year is around the corner, there are still the last moments of summer with outdoor plans and shows that will make you have a good time.
Theatrical comedies, the Sants festivities, a rumba tardeo or an exhibition about Barcelona's theaters are some of the proposals that the city offers us this weekend.
Desaparellats at Espai Texas

Espai Texas presents Desaparellats, a play written by Ramon Pardina and directed by Roc Esquius. The story introduces Ton and Anna, a couple who discover that in their bathroom there is a passage that connects to a parallel universe. Upon crossing this border, both find altered versions of themselves: he finds a more carefree and free Anna, while she finds a more resolute Ton.
This crossroads raises a reflection on the suitability of our decisions: would we choose each other again if we started from scratch? Is the security of the known preferable to the adventure of the unknown? The play uses fantasy to build a satire on urban coexistence.
Sants Festivities 2026

The Sants neighborhood continues to celebrate its main festival with concerts, decorated streets and shows for all residents. One of the most interesting points of the festivities is, like Gràcia, its tradition of decorating the streets and the competition behind it. The neighborhood commissions transform the streets of the neighborhood into spaces full of imagination thanks to the decorations made by hand with recycled materials.
Throughout the weekend, the program offers an agenda that includes giant parades, correfocs, casteller days and sardana performances during the day. As night falls, the different festival commissions organize free outdoor concerts, dance orchestras and DJ sessions that fill every corner of Sants with festivity and community.
La Corte de Farón at Teatre Apolo

The Milnotes company arrives at Teatre Apolo with a new version of La Corte de Faraón, the classic musical theater. The production brings together on stage more than 60 performers including soloists, dance corps and choirs, accompanied by a live orchestra. All this, to give life to a parody that fuses operetta, traditional zarzuela, revue and couplé.
Set in Egypt, this work satirizes the world of grand opera and rescues the memory of the original production: a premiere that suffered the censorship of the time. Under the direction of Joan Garrido, the proposal moves away from the molds of the genre through a modern set design and a colorful staging.
Tom Barford Quintet at Jamboree

This weekend, the Jamboree hall hosts a live performance by British saxophonist and composer Tom Barford, one of the most prominent emerging figures in current European jazz. During this evening, the musician will present the repertoire from his album Live at the Parakeet, a compendium of his own songs marked by the energy of contemporary jazz.
The concert will be performed in a quintet format that brings together prominent instrumentalists from the international scene: James Copus on trumpet, Ivo Neame on piano, Oli Hayhurst on double bass, and Tim Giles on drums.
Fritanga!: afternoon party and rumba at Poble Espanyol

Poble Espanyol bids farewell to summer with a proposal of live rumba and a very festive atmosphere. This Saturday, August 29, the venue will offer a Catalan rumba session by Piratas Rumbversions, a group that will present a repertoire full of versions of the great classics of rumba and fusion music.
After the concert, the party will continue with DJ Txarnego, in charge of keeping the energy on the dance floor with mestizo rhythms and very fun music. Fritanga! is one of the quintessential afternoon plans for summers in Barcelona. This concert is part of the Nits en Viu cycle at Poble Espanyol, a cycle that pays homage to well-known groups in music history (from pop to rock, including salsa or Catalan rumba).
The Magic Hour at Pedralbes Monastery

The Royal Monastery of Santa Maria de Pedralbes once again offers its cycle The Magic Hour on Tuesdays and Fridays. Between 6:00 PM and 9:00 PM, free access is available to the galleries of its cloister, considered one of the most extensive and well-preserved jewels of Gothic religious architecture in the world.
The proposal invites visitors to stroll through the exterior enclosure without prior reservation, enjoying the silence and the nuances of light offered by the late afternoon falling on the arches and the central garden.
Saturday Classics at MEAM

The European Museum of Modern Art proposes a different way to experience art on Saturday afternoons: it merges its exhibitions with live music. The Saturday Classics series takes advantage of the Palau Gomis space (an 18th-century building hidden in El Born) to offer chamber concerts in the same rooms where the works hang.
The general admission to see the permanent collection of contemporary figurative painting and sculpture includes access to the afternoon concert. In this way, the visit becomes a different experience, where one can stroll unhurriedly among the paintings while musicians perform their pieces a few meters from the audience.
Barcelona: city and theater at El Born CCM

The Born Centre de Cultura i Memòria is facing the last days of the exhibition Barcelona: city and theater, a research curated by Antoni Ramon Graells, Ivan Alcazar Serrat and Joan Alvarez Garcia-Lujan. The exhibition proposes a historical reinterpretation of the city's urban growth from the 18th century through the establishment of its performance venues.
Throughout the exhibition, one can understand how theater moved from La Rambla to Passeig de Gràcia, Paral·lel, and the old municipalities. Through maps, models, posters, and audiovisual material, the exhibition demonstrates how theater venues served as a driving force for the transformation of social and cultural life in Barcelona.
Musical Lottery at La Off Barcelona

This Saturday, La Off Barcelona hosts Musical Lottery, a fun show where you sing, dance, and win many prizes. Hosted by Bobby Pop-Rock alongside Sandy Jazz and DJ Superstar, the event gives attendees a "lottery ticket" loaded with popular song titles from different eras: Spice Girls, AC/DC, Michael Jackson, Ricky Martin or Nino Bravo, among many others.
Throughout the show, the audience must identify the themes from the soundtrack of their lives to cross them off on their card. In addition, they can participate in quizzes, challenges, and musical games.
Paco de Lucía at La Perla del Born
Xavier Coll, Alí Arango and Luis Robisco recover the best-known compositions of Paco de Lucía in a space that breaks with the usual distance of large stages. Accustomed to playing in theaters like the Palau de la Música, the three guitarists now move to the intimate atmosphere of La Perla del Born to start a new musical residency where the audience can almost touch the artists.
The proposal adds the percussion of Lucas Balbo and the live dance of Jose Manuel Álvarez and Carolina Morgado. Beyond the tribute to the one who revolutionized flamenco guitar to take it out of its accompanying role and give it its own voice, the project lovingly cares for the technical aspect. The sound engineering is by Pepe Cervera, who for years was Paco de Lucía's touring sound technician.
