The Port of Barcelona has closed the second edition of its open days, held on the weekend of May 17 and 18. Over the two days, more than 15,000 people enjoyed a wide program of activities to get a close look at the port infrastructure, including guided tours by sea and land, family experiences, cultural and sporting events, as well as exceptional access to the APM Terminals Barcelona and Hutchison Ports BEST container terminals.
"Opening the port to the public is not just a one-off action, but a continuous commitment. This second edition consolidates the port's commitment to making itself understood, showing its activity, and strengthening its bond with the city. The great reception we have had encourages us to move forward with initiatives such as the future Port Center, which will open in 2026, to continue explaining who we are and what we do," said the president of the Port of Barcelona, José Alberto Carbonell.
Around 3,000 people discovered the port through various types of guided tours: maritime, dramatized, and land-based. The long-duration land tours allowed access for the first time to the APM Terminals Barcelona and Hutchison Ports BEST container terminals. This unprecedented experience was highly valued by participants, as it offered a privileged look at port operations and helped highlight the strategic importance of the Port of Barcelona in the economic and logistical spheres.
Given the good reception of the first two editions, the Port of Barcelona has already begun working on the next edition of the open days. The port's objective is to make it an annual event. As a preamble to the open days, part of the Barcelona pier was inaugurated, a new promenade space of more than 13,500 square meters open to the public.
