Marta Vall-llosera

Architect Marta Vall-llosera presides this week over one of the major international events hosted by Barcelona: the UIA 2026 World Congress of Architects. President of the Superior Council of Architects' Associations of Spain (CSCAE) and head of the congress, she leads an event that will bring together thousands of professionals, academics, and students from around the world to discuss the future of cities, sustainability, housing, and the social role of architecture.

A graduate of the Barcelona School of Architecture (ETSAB), Vall-llosera has been practicing for decades from her studio in Lleida and has developed a career closely linked to the defense of the profession and the public service of architecture. In 2022, she became the first woman to preside over the CSCAE in its nearly ninety-year history.

With the UIA World Congress, Barcelona once again places itself at the center of the international debate on architecture and urbanism. Under the motto Becoming. Architectures for a Planet in Transition, the event will host more than 10,000 architects and will advocate for an architecture capable of responding to the great social, environmental, and urban challenges of the 21st century, consolidating the city as a global benchmark in urban innovation and architectural thought.
