After two years of renovations, the Teatre Raval has reopened its doors on Sant Antoni Abat street. Now, the new space presents itself as a modern creation center that prioritizes closeness to the audience and the depth of texts. The program, which starts this May 12, is designed to offer an experience of "auteur theater."
Federico García inaugurates the new season of Teatre del Raval
The season kicks off with the return of one of Pep Tosar's most acclaimed successes: Federico García. Ten years after its premiere at the Grec Festival, this play returns to the stage to pay a poetic and documentary tribute to Lorca's life.
The show helps us understand Lorca's inner world, but from an intimate perspective. Tosar seeks the human being, his fears, and his family circumstances. And, to achieve this, he opts for a contained and simple staging, which makes the viewer empathize with the man who sang to life and death with the same intensity.
This multidisciplinary piece will be on stage from May 12 to July 26 and is a good opportunity to rediscover the most authentic Lorca in the intimacy of the theater.
Theater of memory and resistance at Teatre del Raval
The new Raval venue will host plays that invite historical and social reflection, both in the Tadeusz Kantor Room (in homage to the Polish director) and in the Espai Damià Huguet.
Léon a la Terra dels homes: the adult gaze of Saint-Exupéry
After a successful tour of Catalonia and Mallorca, one of Maria Pla's most personal proposals finally arrives in Barcelona. We are not facing a conventional adaptation of The Little Prince, but an imaginary dialogue between the writer Antoine de Saint-Exupéry and his great friend, the Jewish intellectual and pacifist Léon Werth.
The play depicts an encounter in the desert between these two castaways of the European wars. Eighty years after its publication, the show invites us to reread the classic from an adult and different perspective. Performed by Miquel Gelabert and Òscar Intente, the piece holds a mirror to our own attitudes (such as vanity or competitiveness) through a gaze that reminds us of the responsibility of being people.

The inauguration of Espai Damià Huguet is led by Josep Pere Peyró with a master class and a biting comedy. Set maneres de ser Hamlet uses Shakespeare's myth to reflect on how pain and doubt have been interpreted throughout the centuries.
Peyró, who assumes the triple role of author, director, and performer, travels through seven interpretive techniques: from the Grammelot of the 5th century to the "truth" of the Stanislavski method, passing through current performative modernity. The play is also a tribute to all those who have dedicated their energy to theater, especially in the most difficult times.
The play will be on stage from May 22 to June 26, 2026.
L'enterrador: theater as a witness to memory
The most historical and resistant aspect of the Teatre del Raval's programming concludes with the monologue L'enterrador. Actor and author Pepe Zapata proposes an exercise in metatheater: a performer rehearses alone the play he has written about his own grandfather, the gravedigger of a village where he himself grew up.
The plot tells us about the daily life of a man forced to bury those executed by firing squad who arrive at the cemetery. The conflict erupts when, among the corpses, he recognizes a friend he believed dead at the front. It is a forceful reflection on how we construct our past and the importance of not forgetting.
This monologue can be seen from June 27 to July 26, 2026.
"Oblideu-vos de nosaltres" is the company behind Teatre del Raval
"Oblideu-vos de nosaltres" is the name of the company that manages the new Teatre del Raval and is linked to the careers of Evelyn Arévalo and Pep Tosar. The company's name comes from a poem by Tadeusz Różewicz, which inspired Arévalo's first theatrical text in 2012.
Thus, during this season, the theater will also revive shows from its consolidated repertoire. For example, pieces such as Federico García, which inaugurates the venue; La casa en obres (about Blai Bonet); or Molts records per a Ivanov, by Pep Tosar, will be performed again. The company is committed to a humanist theater that shuns technological artifice to focus on the craftsmanship of the word.
Music, gastronomy and family shows
The rebirth of Teatre Raval also wants to establish a new model of cultural consumption in the city, where music and gastronomy will become part of the project. This is the reason for the cycle La gran Blue Nit, a commitment to chamber music and local jazz that can be enjoyed in the Espai Damià Huguet.
The musical program will premiere on July 3 with Elisabet Raspall, the Barcelona-born pianist who today is one of the most personal voices of the genre.
Additionally, the theater has created an alliance with the gastronomic sector of the neighborhood. The management of the service will be carried out by the Riquiño team, a highly recognized restaurant on Parlament street that will manage the bar offering fresh and local cuisine.
The family program will go hand in hand with proposals such as that of Sergi Buka and his show L'impossibilista. This magician uses visual poetry with everyday objects for the delight of the youngest members of the family.
Artistic value above commercial profitability
The project by Pep Tosar and Evelyn Arévalo is committed to a program based on containment, respect for the classics, and active listening. Barcelona recovers a building, yes, but above all it gains a space where historical memory is a tool for understanding the present.
