Change of leadership at Leitat. The general assembly of the technology center has chosen Ramon Pastor as the new president of the entity. The until January executive of the multinational HP takes office replacing Jordi William Carnes, after having led the institution for more than eight years.

Pastor's appointment is part of the impulse of a new strategic stage for the technology center, led by its general director since the end of 2023, Jordi Cabrafiga. The entity, with more than 400 employees and more than 100 years of experience, thus opens a new phase to continue developing R&D&i projects for companies and institutions.

"After many years with senior management responsibilities in a multinational, I thought it appropriate to accept this challenge to be able to give back to my country a part of what I have learned during my career in innovation and technology," Pastor highlighted.

From his profile of global leadership and local roots, Pastor will lead Leitat after a career of more than 30 years at HP, in which he has held positions of maximum responsibility: he has directed the worldwide large-format printing division, has created and led the global 3D printing business and, for the last 12 years, has been at the helm of the HP Campus in Sant Cugat.

As a result of this experience, the board of directors of the technology center has highlighted his "deep knowledge of the business and technological ecosystem, both Catalan and international," as well as his consolidated career in the field of innovation.

In his career, Pastor has also been president of IAM 3D Hub, a European benchmark in additive manufacturing and promoted and operated precisely by Leitat. In addition, he has participated as a trustee in several entities, such as the Catalunya Cultura Foundation, Respon.cat, Eurecat and the business councils of the UPC and La Salle.

The change occurs at a key moment for the entity, according to Cabrafiga: "2024 has been a turning point for Leitat; we have consolidated a new management model, we have worked with more than 600 companies and we have strengthened our capacity to respond to the country's major challenges."

The entity has reached this key moment under the leadership of Jordi William Carnes for eight years, in a period in which Leitat has consolidated itself as a benchmark for state and European innovation: "I leave the presidency with the pride of having contributed to positioning the center as a strategic partner for many companies and institutions."

In these eight years under Carnes' presidency, the center has promoted more than 3,400 projects; it has attracted 160 million euros in grants and contracts, and has coordinated 63 high-impact projects. Now, it opens a new stage to continue growing and acting as a catalyst for innovation at a local and international level.
