The main business schools in Barcelona remain, one more year, among the best in the world. IESE and ESADE have repeated among the top five in the ranking on executive training programs prepared annually by the British newspaper Financial Times. As in the 2022 classification, IESE has taken the second position and ESADE the fourth, selected from a total of 50 business schools worldwide based on student responses and data provided by the institutions themselves. A little further down is EADA, also from Barcelona, in position 25, climbing eight steps compared to last year. Since 2020, it has climbed 18 positions, starting from 43.
For IESE's second position, the Executive Education 2023 has highlighted the satisfaction of the participants in its programs, highly valued for their internationality and the quality of the faculty. For six consecutive years ---between 2015 and 2020---, IESE remained the first in the world. In 2021, no ranking was published due to the impact of the pandemic on education. Since 2022, the French HEC Paris has snatched international leadership from the business school of the University of Navarra.
With HEC Paris and IESE in the first and second positions, the third place goes to the French Insead. A year ago it was for the Swiss IMD Business School. After ESADE in fourth position, this year's top 10 is completed by London Business School, IMD Business School, Fundação Dom Cabral, University of Michigan, Essec Business School, SDA Bocconi School of Management and ESMT Berlin, the latter two tying for tenth position.
In this ranking, the Financial Times analyzes the different open programs and custom programs offered by business schools around the world, configuring a classification for each type and then one that combines the results. IESE has ranked first in the open programs ranking, designed for entrepreneurs and executives from any company, and fourth in those made specifically for companies that hire them. Compared to a year ago, it improves by two positions in open programs and drops one position in custom programs.
ESADE has become the third best school in the world for open programs, improving one position compared to 2022, and twelfth for custom programs, worsening four positions compared to last year. Likewise, EADA has placed 16th for open programs, nine positions higher than a year ago, and 47th for custom programs, eight more compared to 2022.
